Question: Hi ,
my father 77 yrs in age is taking Levilpil 500 mg (due to a seizure episode) and is complaining of a lot of constipation and that his soles (bottom of his feet) are getting heated up and he feels they are swollen (may as well be his anxious nature).
Just wanted to know if levipil can indeed have these 2 side effects ?
Thanks.

Brief answer..not exactly
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Although levipil can cause some constipation but not a very severe constipation and similarly burning in feet ( peripheral neuropathy ) is not caused by levipil although a different anticonvulsant known as phenytoin can cause feet neuropathy.
In nut shell LEVIPIL doesn't seem to be the reason for your fathers complaints.
Consult your doctor for finding the cause of burning feet ( causes include diabetes, high blood pressure, alcohol, lack of VIT B12 etc amongst a few reasons of a long list of causes ). For constipation ask him to consume more water, fibre diet,2 tsf of olive oil three times a day, physical activity, and may take ISABGOL husk.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
