What Causes Decreased Heart Rate After Taking Propranolol For Anxiety?

Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I've been struggling with anxiety for weeks now. Tonight, I decided to not take the last dose of a regiment of propanolol. It has been about 14 hours since I took my last dose. I felt like it was a good thing to take and I feel like I can be more relaxed after a day on it. 10mg ever 12 hours but I only did two of them out of the whole bottle. My heart rate has been pretty slow since a few hours ago but I'm in pretty good shape and I'm 26. Now, when I breathe in really deep, I feel a few really strong heart beats. I don't necessarily feel any pain and I'm curious if this is just a really good thing? I have been having higher heart rates since taking propanolol. I am wondering if I'm just more relaxed. There is no pain but I would almost consider it a palpitation because it is a pretty noticeably strong beat. Like, my heart has been pretty tired and when I took propanolol it had a chance to rest up.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking in HCM.
I can understand your problem.
1. Propranolol decreases the heart rate, means slowing of heart.
2. When you breath deep heart have to pump more blood, so feeling of heart beats at that moment.
Which is completely normal.
So do not worry.
In my opinion you can reduce the dose of propranolol to 5 mg. Discuss about this your doctor.
Hope my answer helped you.
