What Causes Deep Vein Thrombosis?
Question: patient with extensive left proximal DVT.long flight from XXXXXXX to UK 2 months ago. Also 1 year weight loss.treated with low molicular weight heparin.patient is known to be suffering from Hypertension on treatment.kindly confirm what could be the cause of DVT in thic case.
Brief Answer:
contributing factors are there but not causative!
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Reviewed your reports,
1. It is not possible to confirm the cause of DVT in most cases. It is only a probability.
2. Hypertension is a risk factor for DVT. A long journey from XXXXXXX to Uk is a risk factor too but in majority of cases the sign and symptoms will appear earlier than 2 months. However, a Journey undertaken two months prior to development of symptoms can still be contributory. However we can not use any thing more than the term contributory. As old age, high blood pressure, immobility, dehydration can all contribute to it.
Hope this clarifies the issue.
Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
