What Causes Difficulty In Focusing On One Task?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Aug 2015
Question: Hi, I'm 26 years old and I own my own business. I'm married and I'm fairly accomplished for my age but I've constantly struggled with keeping to one task. For years my mind has wandered, I jump from one thing to the next.. Its getting to the point where I cannot function in my position. I'm missing deadlines and even resorting to staying up late to keep away from distractions. I've never been diagnosed with ADD or anything but I'm leaning in that direction. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
evaluation by a psychiatrist needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

You have difficulty in focussing and jump from one task to another.

This symptom can be a part of ADD, even though, Adult-onset ADD is not so common.

Do you also have difficulty in organising things, forgetfulness and impulsivity?

Another supporting point for ADD is improvement in your symptoms with adderall.

Keeping all this in mind, I would suggest you to consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation.
Please do not take the drugs of another person without prescription. Adderall is a controlled drug. You may be in trouble with this.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
Thanks.
