What Causes Difficulty In Walking After An Accident?

Question: I was walking down stairs in my house when I heard a "pop" . I think I did something to my left calf muscle. I can't walk with my usual stride. I can stand and bend over without pain, but I walk gingerly and carefully . I am icing it right now.
Should I go to en Urgent Care for a possible X-Ray? Or wait to see if it gets easier to walk as the day goes on? Urgent care closes in an hour and a half and there is a long wait. No urgent care tomorrow.

Brief Answer:
X-rays don't help in your case, unless there is doubt about fracture.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Going to urgent care and having a x-ray is not necessary, unless you have any doubts about a fractured bone.
If the problem seems to be more muscular ( muscles strain for example ), best thing to do is rest and painkillers such paracetamol or ibuprofen for a couple of days.
If the pain or walking problems persist after few days, you should be checked by a Doctor about any tendons damaged.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Greetings.
