What Causes Difficulty In Walking After An Injury?

Question: My mother is 77 years of age and a few days ago fell on a hard surface from one step. She fell on her behind She saw a doctor and was sent for an x-ray of the lumbar region and given naproxen to help ease inflammation/pain. The x-ray results are below.
She is sitting and walking with difficulty and is in pain. She does not wish to go to the hospital for further assessment. Please advise what other measures we should be taking to help ease her pain. EG. Should she be getting massage, physio, using heating pad, etc...
X-RAY RESULTS
=============
LUMBAR SPINE
Multiple views of the lumbar spine shows that there is anterior loss of verterbral height of the T12 vertebral body.
There is no loss of vertebral height of the lumbar verterbrae.
There is narrowing of the interverterbral space at L5-S1 and to a lesser extent at L4-5 and at L3-4.
There is a grade I spondylolisthesis of L4/5. The presence or absence of spondylolisthesis is difficult to assess without having oblique views.
There are small osteophytes anteriorly at all levels. There are degenerative changes o the facet joints from T12 throught S1.

Brief Answer:
rest and pain killer medication
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I have read the Xray report you mentioned. It indicates presence of the degenerative changes in the spine which are age related rather than any defects, related to the accident.
Need not worry, there is no need for any special treatment. Applying pain killer gels like DICLOFENAC GEL and applying hot compresses will help to ease her pain. There is no need for any massage or physio.
Also, ask her to rest the maximum time in day, atleast for a week.
Let her wear a Lumbosacral belt to support her spine after a week of bed rest.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
