What Causes Discomfort Swallowing Followed By Burping?
Question: Hello, I keep having to swallow with no feeling of satisfaction so I keep swallowing which makes me burp. I do have seasonal allergy problems. This swallowing problem used to happen maybe once a year usually accompanied by a cold or something. In the past couple of years it has happened more frequently. This is the second time in the past month. I read last night that it could be triggered by stress. I also seem to be coughing here and there which is slightly painful.

I understand your concerns about your illness. In my opinion your problem is related to your allergies. During allergy, secretions in throat increase, which you are swallowing continuously. Cold conditions increase tendency for allergies. This may be the reason behind increased frequency during cold attack.
Reason behind your problem could be pollution too, as pollution also acts as allergenic agent due to different chemicals and gases. I am suspecting pollution because your husband and your daughter also have bronchitis, which is related to pollution.
Other possibility could be smoking related if you have chronic smoker in your family and other members are passive smokers.

Stress is a less likely reason behind this.
