What Causes Elevated Creatinine Levels?
Question: I recently had a creatinine of 1.2 with no other symptoms.
I'm a 55 year old female. Also of note is that I take spironolactone 50 mg daily for chin acne
This was the first time it was elevated. All others were on the lower side
Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Get it repeated.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
The rise in serum creatinine levels could be just acute in nature and seems to be due to dehydration following Spironolactone use as it is a diuretic.
Now I would recommend in such case to stop spironolactone and to consume plenty of fluids for 5 days and get your serum creatinine repeated.
If it comes out to be high again then you would require further investigations including blood pressure evaluation, blood sugar , Ultrasound Abdomen.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
