Question: I am undergoing chemo with the Folfox therapy for colorectal cancer for which my colon was removed. My latest blood tests showed a high range for immuture granulocytes and rbc..Is this a major concern for me?
In your opinion, how effective has the folfox treatment option of 12 treatments been for stage 3 cancer? What has been the long term success rate? Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to worry about it!

Detailed Answer:
Hi! thanks for your health query!

Immature granulocytes and early red cells are not only common but also the essential part and parcel of body's immunity/regenerative system to respond after chemo/radio therapy or any kind of serious depression/insult to the bone marrow; it is called leukemoid reaction and is expected in all such patients...!

Regarding effectiveness etc. of folfox, I must say that this is one of the best kind of adjuvant treatment regimen now available on earth and it is able to achieve a disease free 5 years in more than 80% of patients.

Follow-up queries are most welcome, if any!

Wishing you good health,
