What Causes Elevated Iron Levels In The Brain?
Question: what would cause high iron in my brain. I also have corea. Is this related?
Brief Answer:
Hemochromatosis, needs work up and management
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Iron overload in brain could be due to hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis. Yes it could be connected to chorea which is due to basal ganglia lesion and there is a prety chance that these iron loads are causing it. You need to consult a physician, they will run some baseline work up tests to assess for hemochromatosis and other metabolic disorders and manage you accordingly.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
