default
Posted on Tue, 26 Sep 2017
Question: For the last couple of weeks I have been experiencing extra saliva in my mouth. Annoying to say the least. My dentist suggested a problem with vitamin d. I take 1000 iu plus 400 iu in a daily regimen of a liquid I drink daily. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and take methotrexate and 1 milligram of Predizone Had this for several years but I am fortunate that it is on the more moderate form of RA Maybe you can give me some input.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
increased salivation may be due to bad orodental hygiene or mucosal lesions or side effect of some medication.
Methotrexate can cause oral ulcers leading to salivation .
Please send me the pictures of your oral cavity and tell me do you have any relevant history so that I can suggest you better.
Take care
Thanks and regards

I know about the problem with mouth lesions. I see a Rheumatoligist every 8 weeks and the check up and blood draw are always fine. I have no history of anything like this. I see a Periodontist every 6 months also. Just had my teeth cleaned a couple months ago.
