What Causes Fatigue, Loss Of Appetite, Occasional Vomiting And Diarrhea?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Jun 2016
Question: I am trying to decide if I need to go to the ER. Today is my 3rd day of not feeling well. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, occasional vomiting and diarreah. At the onset of the sickness I had problems with my balance once I got up from sleeping, but that seems to have gone away. I have nausea that seems pretty consistent. I have slept most of the last three days. The last time I pooped it was lime green. My diet has consisted of water, gatorade and a little bit of chicken noodle soup and crackers

Brief Answer:
Viral illness

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health concerns

I am sorry to hear that you have been feeling poorly with a GI illness. You are wondering if you need ot be seen after 3 days of this. My answer is probably not. As long as you don't become dehydrated your body can fight off this viral infection. Drink plenty of fluids and get plenty of rest. It may take until Monday to feel better but you will get better. The ER will not be able to make this go away any faster. They will only be able to treat dehydration if you are and draw lots of labs and cost lots of money. So as long as you can keep fluids down your should be able to get well on your own

In summary
1. Viral GI illness
2. Drink plenty of fluids
3. Continue chicken noodle soup or other light meals
4. If you become dehydrated then seek medical attention

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
