What Causes Hyper Pigmentation Of Face And Acne?

Question: Hello sir, i have been using betnovate n since last 5 years, now i have stopped since last 8 monts this , it makes my complexion darker and skin gets dull , it causes acne too , plz tell me sir how can i get my usual skin again, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
I have reviewed your case history and I can say that your condition is due to overuse of topical steroid.
Betnovate cream contains steroid and it should not be used without the prescription of dermatologist.
Long use of steroid creams damages your skin in very bad way. It may your skin very thin and fragile (atrophy), increased facial hair and growth of tiny blood vessels (Telengiectasia).
Moreover, it can cause acne-like lesions (acneiform eruptions).
I would strongly advise you to stop any further use of Betnovate cream to avoid any further side effects.
Substitute Betnovate with very mild steroid cream like desonide (DESOWEN cream) for two weeks and then gradually stop desonide cream too.
Apply Clindamycin cream (Clindac-A gel twice a day) over full face for acne.
Use good quality moisturiser like Cetaphil DAM for better healing of damaged skin.
Use gentle cleanser like Cetaphil Cleansing lotion on regular basis.
Once you are totally off on any steroid we can consider further treatment of your acne and dull complexion.
Therefore I would insist you to report me after 2 weeks with the clinical photographs so that I can guide you along further management.

Sir, i haven't acne problem as much main problem is dull ,oily and darker then usual skin. Sir , may i take omega-3 fatty acid capsule along with that as health supplements if that doesn't hv side effect,and would i have to pay again after two weeks kimdly let me know?

Yes you can take omega 3 fatty acid supplements additionally.
We can improve your dullness and complexion but for that first we have to treat your steroid-dependence and once your skin is off steroid we can plan treatment exclusive for complexion and dull skin.
I am not sure exactly where you have to pay again or not, kindly clarify that with the staff of HCM.

Sir, is it necessary to use desonide bcz i haven't been using betnovate n since last 6 months and there isn't any cream that withdraw side effect of steroid cause i read on this forum someone suggested tacrolimus.
