What Causes Illegible Handwriting Due To Hand Tremors While On Effexor?
I am taking Effexor [generic] 37.5 mg daily to control hot flashes and .5 mg of clonazopam to help with sleep.
Any ideas as to the cause of my hand writing & typing issues?
Thank you XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In majority of cases individuals with such tremors and shaking usually indicates Parkinson's disease, which in my opinion should be ruled out.
But as you are on clonazepam I would like to ask if it is being used only to help you to sleep or even with any anxiety or panic-related issues? This can also cause some tremors during an episode or anxiety, so please clarify.
I would also like to add that effexor comes with numerous side effects, but one rare side effect includes trembling and/or uncontrollable shaking which could also be the cause for your presentation. It is best to take this up with your prescribing doctor to make sure we can rule out/confirm effexor to be the cause for your presentation.
I hope you find my response helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
Details on Parkinson's disease listed below as requested
Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.
Following are the symptoms of parkinson's:
+Tremor: This usually begins in the hand or fingers; the tremor is most at rest, and the movement is usually back and forth, called a pin-rolling tremor
+Speed of movement reduces with time
+Speech changes (later)
+Muscle rigidity
+Changes in posture
+Writing changes: Becomes hard to write
and a few others.
Parkinson's disease is diagnosed by a neurologist who goes through the medical history, presentation, added with a few blood tests and imaging studies (mainly to rule other conditions out. I would recommend a neurologist consult to make sure we are headed towards a more accurate diagnosis, and also so we we can initiate treatment to help relieve your symptoms.
Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to guide you and help you.
Best wishes.
