Brief Answer:
Introduction of new feed can increase stool frequency
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms
Introduction of new formula feed may sometimes lead to increased stool frequency which usually normalises without any intervention. If there is absence of blood and mucous in stools then there is no cause for concern.
I would also suggest the following
1. If possible exclusively breast feed the baby till 6 months of age
2. Avoid external feeds if possible
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Every Child has its own development milestones
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dear Ms
Every baby is unique and have their own development milestones. There is no hard and fast rule that exactly at 2 months the baby should start rolling. There is a range which is usually between 2 to 4 months when the baby rolls. The development milestones usually start from head to toe. So neck control or neck holding occurs first and rolling comes next.
Putting the baby in prone position or on her tummy is not advisable. It is one of myth that it helps in development. In fact putting the baby in prone position reduces the chest movement.
Let the baby achieve its own milestones and be in prone position on its own. There is absolutely no cause for concern.
Wishing you a very happy parenthood.
God bless you

Brief Answer:
Increased frequency likely to be due to gastrocolic reflex
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
Babies loose weight during first ten days of life. The weight loss is approximately 10% of body weight. After which they gain weight at rate of 30 grammes everyday. So weight can be calculated based on this.
Every baby has its own stool frequency. Many babies do pass stools after every feeds due to hyperactive gastrocolic reflex (distension of stomach with feeds causes reflex evacuation of stools). It is important to differentiate the increased stool frequency due to gastrocolic reflex from infective diarrhoea. If the following criteria are fulfilled there is no cause for concern
1. Baby accepting feeds well
2. Tongue is moist and there are no sign of Dehydration
3. No redness in anal region
4. Urine output is adequate
5. Absence of blood and mucous in stools
6. Weight gain is adequate
I would suggest you the following
1. Continue exclusive breastfeeding
2. Combination of Probiotic and zinc syrup can be given for 3 days : It will take care of increased stool frequency if due to infective diarrhoea
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
