What Causes Insomnia And Pain With Arthritis Symptoms In Post-menopausal Woman?

Posted on Tue, 17 May 2016
Question: Hi Dr Rynne; I am a 61 year old female who is post menopausal. I am on bioidentical hormones and have a hormone specialist. I consider my self very healthy; I take Vitamin D; turmeric; Rhodiola ect for my health. About a year ago I began having extreme exhaustion. I have some difficulty with sleep, staying asleep all night because of some pain with arthritic symptoms. Have tried to avoid taking NSAIDs but sometimes that is the only thing that helps me get back to sleep. I am at my wits end. My hormone doctor suggested testing my adrenal glands and I will do that. I have had my thyroid tested and take a thyroid med. Please help me think where I need to go to address this. It is becoming very bad, I wake up tired and although I want to swim for excersice I am ususally too tired.

Hello Dr. Neurgaonkar;
Thanks for the reply. My hormone specialist has me taking Nature-Throid 48.75 mg per day. I am scheduled to do another blood test for hormone and thyroid levels in the next couple of weeks. I will see my doctor again around the end of April or first of May. I have told her of my fatigue each time I have an appointment. Should I ask her to look at my thyroid levels more closely? My regular primary physician does not seem to be able to address this and I trust my hormone specialist to do this.

I will scan my lab reports from my hormone specialist and try to send them to you. Many thanks
