What Causes Itchy And Painful Boils After Intercourse?
Question: I have been with my husband for 9 years. I am faithful to him and I believe he is too. A few days after intercourse I get boils (confirmed by gp) they are itchy and painful, get bigger then Burst (blood no pus). The doctor checked me for diabetes I had high sugar levels but the glucose test was normal. I also have boils on my arms buttocks stomach and back. Not loads but enough for me to be aware of them. The ones on my arms I hate the most as once they have burst they leave scars that are visible. The gp said to visit the GUM clinic. I've been tested neg for chlamedia (sorry can't spell). Seems pointless visiting a GUM clinic as I've only ever slept with 2 men my whole life And have been with my husband 9 yrs. we are happy and I believe that he is also faithful. Any ideas? fed up with the boils on my Libia minor as they are itchy painful and uncomfortable every time I go to the toilet and wipe.

The possible causes for the boils that you are getting are -
Folliculitis: hair follicles are present on the Labia.
When hair follicles get crushed because of clothes or intercourse etc they can become infected.These are most commonly the result of superficial staphylococcus bacterial infection.
This will usually present as painful inflammatory swelling which will discharge pus or blood.
Though you are not having typical symptoms we cannot exclude the possibility of herpes also.
As at first it can also present with painful area, later lesions, crusting etc can occur.
As far as the treatment is concerned, apply warm compresses and keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also avoid wearing tight fitting clothes and wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and underwear. Wash the area well with an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove. Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as Neosporin are also useful.
In case the lesions worsen oral antibiotics and pain killers may be needed.
