Question: I recently developed a red rash -itchy and sore - around my rectum extending forward to the side of the scrotum. wondering what it is. Clotrimazole helps

Perianal rash extended to the scrotum getting relieved by an antifungal seems to be a mycotic infection due to hygiene issues most likely.And it is dermatitis irrespective of the etiology. If there has been a relief with clotrimazole keep using it at nights before sleep. Apply topical hypoallergenic hygiene gels like Biomousse gel and rinse it like a shampoo it will help the itching.Take some antihistamines. Apply topical hydrocortisone cream too for the rash relief. Keep good toilet and coital hygiene, if there is some continence issues seek a concerned specialist for correction or it will keep recurring. If the issue persists, seek a dermatologist nearby and let them take care of it for you.
