What Causes Itchy Varicose Veins In The Left Leg?
the left leg is the worst
Considerations
Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having significant symptoms related to your varicose veins. I have a couple of considerations for you.
One thing that you can try is using compression stockings during the day to help promote improved blood flow from the veins of your lower legs. This might help decrease some of the itching you have been experiencing.
also it might help to try to elevate your legs as much as possible especially during periods of time when you are mostly sitting. Some patients will lay down next to a wall and put your legs up on the wall for a few minutes and this sometimes helps significantly improved symptoms of aching or itching.
I would also recommend that you try to make sure the skin of your legs as well hydrated. This might help decrease the sensation of itching as well.
If this continues to be a problem it might be reasonable for you to visit with a vascular specialist. There are new or procedures now that are minimally invasive to help treat varicose veins. Some of these procedures involve the use of lasers.
thank you again for sending your question.
Sincerely,
Dr. Galamaga
