What Causes Joint Pains And Stiffness In Knee And Wrist?
Viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Symptoms of acute leukemia are an unnaturally pale complexion, fatigue, pain in the joints, repeated infections such as sore throats, nose bleeds and bruising easily.
Since your sons complete blood count is normal i do not think he is suffering from acute leukemia.
The cause of your sons joint pain and rash could be rheumatoid arthritis or systemic lupus erthyematosis or some viral infections.
Since Lymes disease has been ruled out u can consult your doctor to look for rheumatoid factor, viral markers, antinuclear antibody (ANA) in his blood.
An urinalysis to look for an increased protein level or red blood cells in the urine which may occur if lupus has affected his kidneys is also advised.

Does not acute leukemia progress quickly and would he not be much sicker. It's almost 3 weeks and he really does not feel sick, continues to go to classes, was able to run 3 miles etc. Just curious. I hear it gets progressively work and is ultimately fatal within 3 months or so without treatment. This has not been the case for him andh e is not bruising, out of breath or bleeding.
Thanks and I promise this is my last question:) XXXXXXX
bacterial or viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Acute leukemia progresses very rapidly and immediate treatment is required and can prove fatal if not treated within 3 months.
Since your son is not feeling sick and almost 3 weeks have passed and he is able to run 3 miles and he is not having symptoms like bruising, out of breath or bleeding or enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, underarm, groin or above the collarbone you do not need to worry.
Your son's condition has been caused by some bacterial or viral infection and not acute leukemia.
