What Causes Left-sided Hard Painful Mass On Anus And External Hemorrhoid?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: I have a hard painful mass on the left side of my anus. It's deep in the skin so you can't see it. When I run my fingers on it and press, I can feel it and it hurts to sit. I do have a big external hemorrhoid that goes smaller sometimes from straining after I gave birth. Could this just be swelling from the hemorrhoid?

Brief Answer:
Most likely swelling from the hemorrhoid!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this painful mass that you have reported. I have reviewed your information fully and it is very suggestive of a hemorrhoids. The best approach is to take pain medications such as tylenol and Ibuprofen for relief at this time. Also, always try and keep the stool consistency soft to avoid straining as this will lead to hemorrhoidal crisis. The best way to keep stools soft is to drink enough water, increase vegetables, fiber and fruits intake as well as do regular exercises.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

I will take all of your advice and do it. The pain seems to stem from right beside my episiotomy scar all the way up the side. I was doing a little workout with my legs Sunday night and all day yesterday I was sore, so I'm not sure if I did something to strain it or if it's from the hemorrhoid. I'm just abit concerned, hoping it's not anal cancer from consistent hemmoriod.

Brief Answer:
Not anal cancer......Please!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is not cancer. Hemorrhoids do not cause cancer. Cancers develop over several years. Your age makes the possibility of any cancer in this area very unlikely. For now, monitor only and unless something else happens, I foresee a spontaneous recovery just like a bout of hemorrhoid crisis.

Keep me updated with your progress.
