What Causes Left-sided Ribs Pain With A History Of Pre-cancerous Mass In Rectum?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Awoke Monday with pain on my left side just at the base of my ribs. Sore to the touch, no bruising. Nothing to have injured it. Also, some lite shooting pains in my left lower abdomen area occasionally. I do have a pre-cancerous mass in my rectum that is scheduled to be removed in early Sept and I'm type 1.5 diabetic.
I have also had a few kidney stones in the past, but none since 2003 and this feels different than those.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be due to costochondritis.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Your problem is seems to be due to a condition called costochondritis wherein the cartilagenous ends of the ribs (in the front) are inflamed and therefore painful. It does not have any association with the mentioned precancerous lesion of the rectum or the kidney stones that you have.
You need to apply hot compress. Also take some NSAIDs like ibuprofen when needed, preferably in full stomach.
Feel free to ask back in case of further queries, if any.
Regards
