What Causes Low TSH Levels?
Question: My TSH result was 0.014. What are the possible causes of this?
Brief Answer:
too much thyroid hormone
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
In most labs (there is some variation), normal TSH is from 0.5 to 4.5. If the TSH is low it means there is too much thyroid hormone around. Since you are taking a thyroid hormone it means that your dose is too high.
It can be dangerous to have too much thyroid hormone around so check with your doctor to get the dose lowered.
You will need your TSH checked again 6-8 weeks after the dose is changed.

What are the possible consequences of a low TSH score?
Brief Answer:
Low TSH
Detailed Answer:
Hello, The low tsh just reflects a high thyroid hormone. High thyroid hormone can cause fast heart rate, weight loss, loss of bone density resulting in osteoporosis, anxiety, heart rhythm irregularities, insomnia and diarrhea. You may not have all these symptoms but the TSH really needs to be in the normal range for your metabolism to be stabilized and to prevent complications.
Please consult your doctor for a medication adjustment soon.
