What Causes Low Platelets And Fatigue After A Food Poisoning Episode?
Question: Doctors are not finding out what is wrong. I get passed around. had to quit my original doctor for lack of taking me serious. I believe my problems started with food poisoning. from turkey stuffing. my aunt went to the hospital. they said 2 types. I did not go. After recovering, I went down hill. thin blood lead me to a XXXXXXX sure procedure. but blood test still shows low platelets. low on b and d. IBS symptoms next. colonoscopy nothing. breast biopsy nothing. Terrible body aches like arthritis . Fatigue very bad. Then to top it all off, doc said herpes virus. she said with the blood levels, it looks like I just recently got it... ??? I haven't been with anyone and my husband tested negative... could the blood levels be something associated with the food poisoning? she gave me a high dose of Valtrex and my ibs systems is the only thing that is better
Brief Answer:
Sometimes food poisoning could be the culprit
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have known many cases which deteriorate arthritis, low platelets, extreme fatigue after a food poisoning episode. The immunity would go for a toss after an episode of gut illness. I doubt if it is herpes that caused these symptoms. Most of us would have herpes antibodies even though it may not show up with worrisome symptoms.
In such cases I just suggest the person to take undue care of the general health, rest, food and good positive thinking for faster recovery. Wait and watch is the best policy with rest and good food and thought.

So maybe you don't understand. I need answer as to what I should be tested for. and I don't believe I have herpes.
Brief Answer:
Infectious disease profile
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In my opinion you should see a Infectious disease specialist and get the local disease antibodies testing done first. There are non specific arthritis, gonococcal arthritis which accompany with fatigue and muscle pain.
You should also note about the odds of testing negative for all of the above. In such a case clinicians just advise rest, massage therapy and other complementary therapies.
