What Causes Mildly Fatty Liver Infiltration?

Question: I recently underwent an abdominal ultrasound. I was diagnosed with "mildly fatty liver infiltration". In my recent blood test results, my AST was 16 and ALT 25.
Can there be a mistake with the ultrasound? Or is it possible that I have "mildly fatty liver infiltration" with normal liver enzymes?
Also, is weight loss and diet the best avenue to correct this issue? Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.

A simple fatty liver need not have elevated liver enzymes.
Only when there is steatohepatitis, the liver enzymes are elevated. Simple fatty liver also called as steatosis have normal liver enzymes only.
So there is nothing wrong with the ultrasound.
If you consume alcohol, you need to stop it.
If you are a non alcoholic, then weight reduction is the first step in the treatment of fatty liver.
I hope that answers your query.
