What Causes Nausea And Excessive Belching?
Question: I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago for biliary dyskinesia. I have GERD and take Protonix twice a day. Over the past few months I find that eating is causing nausea and excessive belching. Definitely with richer foods, but also seems to be happening when I feel I am eating pretty cautiously. Intense nausea wakes me up from a sound sleep often and I wake up nauseous in the morning. I almost feel the way I did when I had a bad gallbladder. This is not all the time however. There are days I feel completely fine.
Brief Answer:
possible infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question. It is possible that you have an infection like Helicobacter pylori in your stomach that is causing your symptoms. You would have to see your doctor for testing to detect this organism and for treatment. You may also have a food intolerance like lactose or gluten intolerance. If you are going to try a food elimination diet I would first recommend that you get rid of dairy, as gluten is harder to eliminate. You may also need an endoscopy to evaluate the problem. See your doctor for further information and to make a diagnosis and get treatment.
