i have recurrent episodes of upper center abdominal pain. very targeted (no migration), very severe, barely walk upright. pain "seizes" so think of labor contractions - hurts like heck for 10-45 seconds and then lets up for 30s-3min in a constant cycle. eating hurts, not eating hurts, water hurts. no real nausea or vomiting. episode lasts anywhere from 3 days to a week. 3 days means I started prilosec immediately. diarrhea during this time - almost like my bowels shut down and flush everything (and I mean everything) out.episodes have occurred once every 2-3 years since I was 20.
Past 2-3 years, regular bouts of fatty stool - nearly every day. This has been confirmed with a fecal fat test that was positive. Colonoscopy negative. endoscopy negative. biopsies negative. bloodwork (including pancreatic enzymes) negative. HIDA - biliary dyskinesia - 27%.
Am on prilosec and Creon to see it pancreatic insufficiency is causing fatty stools.
Recommended to have gall bladder out. That's fine - my mom, grandmother, and cousin have all had theirs removed too. However, wondering if the two issues - pain and fatty stool - are related and if perhaps I should be looking at other causes, such as pancreas problem??
