Brief Answer:
Cholestyramine information:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

Cholestyramine is a medication that binds fats and is prescribed to lower cholesterol. However, after it had been on the market and used for awhile, it was noted that it can be constipating. So doctors started prescribing it for intractable diarrhea.

Nausea is definitely one of the possible side effects of cholestyramine, but not all people get it.

Is there any further information I can provide for you?

Well thank you for answering me so fast. I checked with my Doctor's nurse (Doc not available) and she said she didn't know of any nausea. However, I am experiencing nausea from it and trying not to use it very often for the diarrhea. Just watching what I am eating to not add to my problem.

Brief Answer:
You might try half of a packet.

Detailed Answer:
If you are taking the kind of preparation of cholestyramine that comes in a packet, you can try taking half the quantity and see if that causes less nausea.

Has the cause of your diarrhea been evaluated (stool studies, colonoscopy)?
