What Causes Numbness In Leg After Recovering From Shingles?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: I have Shingles in my vaginal area that extend up my right buttock and down my right thigh. The sores and blisters have dried up, but now I am experiencing numbness on the back of my right leg and strange sensations in my right foot. It feels like I'm wearing a tight sock. And when I walk, it feels like there's something on the bottom of my foot. It's driving me crazy! I'm taking Valtrax and just started Lyrica yesterday, but there's been no improvement. Is this kind of thing common with Shingles and does it eventually go away?

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are common after this condition .

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
You have got shingles. It is viral infection. It causes neuritis. It is probably involving sciatic nerve. It this condition there is severe neuralgic pains. It may take 2-3 weeks to resolve. You are already taking lyrica (pregabaline) and valtrax(valacyclovir). You can take Mecobalamine which helps in recovery of nerves. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. If it doesn't relieve pain then strong analgesic such as tramadol can be taken.

These symptoms are common after this condition and will resolve (go away) eventually.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help.

Wishing you a good health.

Take care.

Thank you for this response. I forgot to mention that I am also taking hydrocodone for the pain of the Shingles. Can the Mecobalamine be taken with Lyrica and Valtrax?
