What Causes Numbness In The Right Big Toe And Backache?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: My right big toe has gone numb. Two weeks ago when I was moving a speaker fell on the left big toe and that is in a terrible state right now. It is partially numb and it is also painful in shoes. It hard and swollen and the nail bed is discoloured. Could my right toe be in sympathy with my left toe? Previous to the numbness in the right toe I had terrible joint pain and sometimes shooting pain. I have pain in almost all my joints and especially in my lower back. I have not seen a doctor because I have no health insurance.

Brief Answer:
It is unlikely to be due to sympathy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your right great toe is unlikely to be numb due to sympathy to the left toe which was injured. It may be related to your backache which may be causing pressure over some of nerves causing numbness of right toe. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. For numbness Mecobalamine will be beneficial. You can further look for causes of numbness such as diabetes by blood sugar test and neurological causes by MRI of lumbar spine.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

How much of Mecobalamine should I take and how often? I have never heard of B12 under this name before.
