What Causes Orange Colour Urine While On Ciprofloxacin?

Question: My mother is 85 years old and is currently on ciprofloxacin hcl for a UTI. This morning her urine is a bright yellow, almost orange, in color.

Is this a side effect of the medication? Is this a sure side that it working? She is currently on the attached list of medicine.

Hello dear. It is not a side effect of drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Orange color of urine is not due to ciprofloxacin.
It is usually due to pyridium(urinary analgesic) and rifampicin(anti tuberculosis) drugs.
Dark color urine can also be seen with some sulpha drugs and during dehydration.
Please attach the drug list being used.

Hello dear. These drug do not cause urine color change.

Hello dear.
None of the drugs listed by you cause urine color change.
Hence i will advise you to undergo a urine routine examination if the urine color change persists after drinking normal daily water prescribed for your mother.
Iam not asking her to drink plenty of water as i can judge she is a cardiac patient too.
ciprofloxacin works in infection.
