
What Causes Orange Colour Urine While On Ciprofloxacin?

Question: My mother is 85 years old and is currently on ciprofloxacin hcl for a UTI. This morning her urine is a bright yellow, almost orange, in color.
Is this a side effect of the medication? Is this a sure side that it working? She is currently on the attached list of medicine.

Hello dear. Orange color of urine is not due to ciprofloxacin.
It is usually due to pyridium(urinary analgesic) and rifampicin(anti tuberculosis) drugs.
Dark color urine can also be seen with some sulpha drugs and during dehydration.
