What Causes Pain And Tightness In Upper Left Side When I Bend?

default
Posted on Wed, 8 Jul 2015
Question: I have been experiencing a pain on my side from the top of my left side that starts a finger length distance under my arm for about a finger length as well. The soreness has been there for a month. Also, you can feel a swollen area almost like a vein. Also, when bending over there is a tightness on the left when straightening out with pain that lasts for a short period. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Most probably spasm

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them.

Yes, most probably this pain is because of muscular spasm. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- naproxen twice a day for 5 days.
- take hot water in a rubber bottle and put it at the site of pain. It will give soothing effect.
- avoid lifting heavy weight till you become healthy again.
- ask some family member to do oil massage on your back. It will also give soothing effect.
- a baseline ECG to rule out cardiac pathology

Hopefully you will observe improvement soon but If pain persists then visit hospital for workup & physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
