Brief Answer:
Dear

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using our service, your mom can have osteoarthritis in her back that can be causing her pain.Sometimes it can cause overgrowth of the bones in the vertebra that can pinch the nerves in the back and cause the pain . Other possibility according to her age is osteoporosis, which is that the bone get thinner that normal and can have an spontaneous vertebra fracture that gives a lot of pain. She can try an anti inflammatory as ibuprofen to help the inflammation and pain. She can use heating pad for 15 minutes a day four times a day which also helps.
She does not need to see a doctor immediately, just if still with pain for more than 72 hrs without improvement.
I hope my answer will be helpful.
