Question: Having a lot of chest, back, neck and jaw pains lately. 49 year old woman, non smoker. In the past 6 months have had halter monitor, echo and stress echo and numerous ekgs--all normal. 2-1/2 years ago had a scan at the hospital with 0 calcium score. I'm always told I'm fine yet I still get these pains, almost daily. What could it be? I have spoken to you before and its been helpful. Doctor is thinking I may have fibromyalgia.

Brief Answer:
Yes / muscle most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The battery of tests you have had – exclude heart as the cause of your complaints.
If there was anything significant, it could not have eluded all of these investigations.
Superficial skeletal muscle is the most likely culprit…
And Anxiety adds on leading to vicious cycle…
Over The Counter Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs like Ibuprofen or naproxen can break the cycle and are very useful here / taking up a vocation to engage the body and mind diverts the attention
Muscle relaxants are helpful, but may need prescription…
Regular exercises and changing the sleeping posture can help…
Antidepressant drugs like (SSRI or SNRI class), as also some anti-epileptics (like gabapentin) raise the threshold of pain perception and are very useful in such circumstances…
Discuss with your care provider and get appropriate prescription…

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry / Have a good time

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Don’t worry – you will not get a heart attack in the near future ; the chances are remote indeed

The other day, I was listening to the radio; I heard a song, which goes thus! “Dear God! I need not and I will not worry about anything / Because, I know you are taking care of me and I have left it to you / If anything, it is your problem to worry about me! / Leave it to HIM and relax.

Ignore these particular symptom / Enjoy life / You are well – You will be well
