Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in heels can be due to a condition called plantar fasciitis. Its one of the commonest reason for heel pain. Pain in morning and improvement on walking for some time is its classical presentation. The initial treatment with anti inflammatory medicines with rest and cold fomentation works fine for most of the patients. Cortisone injection is a good mid to long term treatment. This can also happen due to low serum calcium and Vitamin D3 levels.
The best thing she can do is when she wakes up in the morning, before getting out of bed and taking a step, give a little foot rub.
There are many things she can try to get better:
Give the feet a rest. Cut back on activities that make the feet hurt. Try not to walk or run on hard surfaces.
Use shoes with good arch support and a cushioned sole.
To reduce pain and swelling, try putting ice on the heel. Or take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen (Motrin).
I hope this answers your query.
