What Causes Pain In Hip And Leg Muscles?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Sep 2014
Question: My husband, age 58, is having pain in his right hip while also experiencing stiff painful quad muscles in both legs that is not related to exercise. This has been going on for over two weeks and he is stretching and taking 600 mg of advil to find only some temporary relief.
.
I am trying to think of what has been different recently and can only come up with taking some Aleve for a groin pull about six weeks ago and several blistering mosquito bites shortly after that. (Never reacted to a mosquito bite like that. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
It may be drug reaction.

Detailed Answer:
HI,

I have read your query.

You have not mentioned any history of fever, night-sweats, weightloss. Since how long the blisters are present, because some times aleve also cause blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin.

As I want to see the color of blisters so upload the picture of blisters. Also get E.S.R, C.R.P, xray of lumbosacral spine done in AP and Lateral view and xray of pelvis with both hips in AP view, done and send me the report.

Till then stop taking aleve and start aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside by prescription of local doctor.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

The blisters lasted for about a three days followed by sores that are now healed and undetectable as to where they were (blisters were about 1/4" in diameter. There is no history of fever, night-sweats or weight loss. He saw his doctor after the 4th mosquito bite that blistered and she gave him some prescription strength cortisone to apply to the area. He had applied at the time and to some additional spots that he thought were mostquito bites but that did not ultimately blister.

What is the purpose of aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside and what are it's side effects?

Brief Answer:
To treat painful stiff muscles

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Aceclofenac+thiocolchicoside area used to treat painful stiff muscles, they are better than aleve or advil as there are less chances of blister due to these drugs. I advise you these drugs keeping in mind that perhaps blister is due to aleve as its side effects. But if you are sure that blisters were due to msquito bite then you can take your previous medications. This was the reason I have advise you to upload the pictures.

Side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth dyspepsia, should not be used in seizure-prone individuals, but these side effects are minimum and do not occurs in all.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

Dr.Singh.
