What Causes Pain In Shoulders?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: I used Softsoap Milk & Honey hand soap and I touched my top lip with it on my hands - Its ingredients are water, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, lauramide DEA, glycol stearate, sodium chloride, cocamidopropyl betaine, fragrance, DMDM hydantoin, polyquaternium 7, citric acid, aloe vera juice, tetrasodium EDTA, honey, lactose, milk protein, glycerin, hydrolyzed silk, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Red No. 40. Being the soap is for the hands is it okay to get it on my lips?

Also my shoulders are very sore lately. I sleep with my hand under my pillow a lot of times with my head on top of the pillow. Could that be the cause of the soreness. I also volunteer at 2 schools 3 or 4 days a week and am putting books on the shelves or it is from aging? When i squeeze my shoulders they feel very sore.

Brief Answer:
Okay to get a small amount on lips

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thank you for using Healthcare Magic. There is no problem getting the soap on your lips. The lips are similar tissue to the hands and provide a protective barrier. It also appears that the soap contained many natural ingredients which shouldn't cause any harm. You should be fine; not to worry. I've gotten similar soaps on my lips before without any problem!

Most likely your shoulder soreness is due to a combination of the things you mention. You may be putting some stress on your arms by the way you sleep, especially if you remain in the position a long time. Repetitive motions like putting books on the shelves also can soreness. You are overworking the muscles some, and I think when you squeeze your shoulders, it's from the muscles being overused. It's kind of like doing a new exercise- when you do it too much, the next day you are very sore. I don't think you can blame it all on aging.

See if you can change the position of your arms when you are sleeping. When you are shelving books, try not to reach up too high. Get a ladder or stool so your arms are more even with the shelf you're putting the book on. This may help reduce stress on the muscles.

Hope this answers your query. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
