What Causes Pain In The Hip And Groin Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: I am having pain in the hip groin area suddenly. The pain is most severe when I lift my leg which makes me think it could be hip flexor but I really have no idea. Another example is when I try getting into or out of the car and I need to lift the leg. (left side). When I stand the area feels full or heavy if that makes sense.

Brief Answer:
Possible sciatica pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

The pain you are describing it's typical of a sciatica pain, which is a nerve type pain. It radiates in the back of your leg but can radiate in front as well.

It will need some time to heal.
You need to take a pain killer for 3-4 weeks, keep moving as much as you can but not overuse, and if you will feel weakness in the leg or numbness then you may need to seek need with physical therapy.

For a pain killer you can use Ibuprofen 400-600 mg, 3 times/day.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you need more clarifications. Otherwise please kindly close and rate the answer.

Regards,
