What Causes Pain In Upper Right Abdomen?
Question: I am 59 yrs old. I've been havin dull achy pain in my upper right abdomen. Went to the DRs. Yesterday waiting to have a catscan. When she pressed my lower left side it hurt? I don't have pain there
Brief Answer:
Gallstones can be the case.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Upper right abdomen is where gallstones usually give the pain. It appears after foods intake (especially fatty). The pain can radiate to the back or shoulder. Nausea and lack of appetite can be present as well.
From the other hand, lower left side pain while pressing can appear due to diverticles, hernia or bladder infection.
Both lower left and upper right pain can indicate some issue with the large intestine.
That is why, if the CT wont give the answer, colonoscopy is the next step.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
