What Causes Pain On Temple And Side Of Neck?

Question: hi, when exercising I get a strong pain in my left temple and left side of my neck. This has happened over the past three days when really bumping up my heart rate. I am 50y/o and my mother had a history of stroke in her 50's. Is this a possibility and should I get to a dr soon?

Dear Madam,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I will like to tell you that this is not a fetaure of stroke as you explain it . But still considering your age and family history I would recommend you to get a scrrenig done for the same . A ECG, 2D ECHO , Carotid doppler , Complete lipid profile is highly recommended . It will screen you for the risk factors predisposing to the risk of stroke .
Rest there is no history of sensory deficit or other motor deficit so possibility of stroke is very less.
Take care.

Thank you for your answer. What is then causing this pain when I am exercising?
I did have a clot in my lung in 2001 caused from surgery so are a little worried regarding clots. I also have varicose veins and as mentioned my mother had strokes in her 50's. I will have the screening as you have suggested.

Dear Madam,
Thanks for reverting back.
It will be very difficult to give you any answer for this as this is a very non specific symptom and is not leading to any diagnosis. During surgery since you are immobile there is a tendency for clots which may not be apt in the present scenario . So seems unlikely . Rest you get these tests done after discussing with your treating doctor and then we will see what comes out.
