What Causes Painful Burning Sensation On The Right Side Of Groin?

Question: Hi, I've been having a constant painful burning sensation on the right side of my groin for almost a decade now. It started after ejaculations, and becomes aggravated after each ejaculations. Now the sensation is there whether I have sex or not, and when I do, it becomes worst. The sensation radiates to the right side of my back and down to my right leg. Could you please advise. Thanks

The symptoms you have mentioned may be due to urinary tract infection or infection in semen, epididymitis, prostatitis or a kidney or ureteric stone. In order to narrow down the diagnosis, you need complete urine examination, semen analysis, ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis apart from a thorough physical examination. Hi Dr. Poola,
Thanks for your response. Actually, my GP had referred me to a Urologist about two years ago, who with the exception of the semen analysis, did all the other tests and examinations you mentioned, but nothing was piked up as the cause of this problem, so I was discharged from the clinic, but the problem continue to worsen. In addition to the possible causes you mentioned, could it also possibly be an inflamation to the prostrate or seminal vesicle or a cyst in the seminal vesicle. Based upon your next advise, I'll note these possibilities down and try to consult my GP for another refferal.

Yes, it can be. Moreover, some problems like chronic non- bacterial prostatitis, chronic epidydimytis are difficult to diagnose unless followed up regularly. There would have been changes in the pathological features of your problem from past 2 years. So, I do not want to go with investigations done 2 years earlier but I advise that it is better to follow up again for identifying the cause, so that appropriate management can be planned
