Brief Answer:
Injury/ cellulitis

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You may have some injury ( twisting etc) while playing. But as you said that it is very painful so it can be cellulitis specially if you have fever and swelling. So it will be better to visit a doctor. But till then you can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Elevation , icing and active finger movements is beneficial . You can further investigate with x Ray. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
