Brief Answer: description below Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for your query. Cause could be due to nerve compression or peripheral neuropathy, which can be a complication of diabetes. Peripheral neuropathy can be from lack of B vitamins, trauma (repetitive motion, pressure, sitting in the same position), alcoholism, kidney or liver problems, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, tumors that are pressing on the area, and a number of other things. Sometimes a cause is not found. Through clinical evaluation is required to reach the diagnosis. Taking gabapentin and methylcobalamin supplements will be helpful. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
