Question: My 19 month old daughter has been passing gassy slimy stools since last night. About 4-5 times since last night, more frequent only today. She might have had some mild pain last night but was fine this morning. Gave her Colic Aid now. Plz advise a solution.

Brief Answer:
Episode is usually self limiting

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

Many toddlers usually have gassy passage of stools with increased frequency. If the following criteria are fulfilled then there is no cause for concern. The episodes are usually self limiting in

1. Absence of blood and mucous in stools

2. Child accepting feeds well

3. No signs of dehydration

4. No redness in anal region

I would suggest you the following

1. Continue giving Colic aid

2. Oral rehydration solution

3. Ensure good intake of nutrients: Dhal water, rice water, tender coconut water

4. Probiotic : Probiotic syrup like flora bc will be helpful

5. Keep the anal region clean and dry: passage of gassy stools is usually associated with redness in perianal region

Take Care
