What Causes Persistent Headache And Cold Along With Heart Palpitations?

Question: I am concerned that I might be iron deficient anemic.
Recently I have had trouble falling and staying asleep, I have been very tired during the day, I've had more headaches than usual, my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton and I also just recovered from a nasty cold. Last night I woke at 12:45 in the morning and did not fall back asleep, I was all too aware of my heart pounding and feeling like I couldn't take a proper breath.
I take multivitamins regularly and Atenonol (12.5 mg) to manage symptoms of my mitral valve prolapse.
I also just finished my menstrual cycle.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Your symptoms of tiredness and palpitation can be from iron deficiency anemia. This can be easily checked by testing your blood hemoglobin and iron in any lab and these are not expensive tests. You are also likely to be suffering from anxiety and your symptoms may be related to the same in addition to the anemia.
If your blood pressure is normal, you can increase the dose of atenolol or change to a more specific beta1 blocker like Bisoprolol or Nebivolol.

Thank you, I did have a small latte this morning (7:53 AM) because of the lack of sleep and I'm pretty sure it did not help my blood pressure so I went to the nurse at the school I work at to have them check my blood pressure at around 11:17 AM. My chest was experiencing some pain and the reading came out 136/9. The nurse said the caffeine should be working it's way out by now, but I've been drinking water to help lower it.
I'm working until 3:55 PM, I've been having some mild chest pain and shortness of breath that I'm keeping track of. Should I be concerned about them?

Brief Answer:
Relax, suggestion follows

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
If you have Atenolol tablet with you, you could take 12.5 mg straight away.
Relax, take deep breaths and get your blood pressure and pulse rate after 1 hour.
You ought to be better with these measures.
If you are not better , it would be good to have yourself examined by a doctor to exclude other causes.
Take care.
