default
Posted on Wed, 19 Aug 2015
Question: I keep having this pulsing and throbbing in my right ear, mostly at night when I lay down, but it will sometimes occur during the day. It can occur in my left ear, also. I have no pain, fever or discharge from the ear. This started a f ew months ago, subsided, and then started up again a week or so ago. So should I touch base with my family MD or go see ENT?
thank you

There are a lot of reasons for such kind of ear problems. Some are listed below for your guidance and for that you may discuss confidently with the ENT physician:

It may be due to an allergic reaction to the inner ear.
It can be due to wax in ear and needs proper care by the physician.
High blood pressure may cause such issues.
Many drugs have a known Ototoxicity and cause symptoms like this.
Some sensorineural problem in the very beginning phase may lead to such an issue.
Diabetes is also involved in chronic diabetics with poor sugar control.
