What Causes Recurring Cold And Cough With Wheezing In A Child?

My son is 2 year old. Every 20 days/ third week he catches cold/cough and in next 1-2 days he gets fever and on many occassions wheezing sound. We have to give him antibiotics for 5-7 days then he is back to normal. This is happening from last 1 year.
Earlier he used to have fever after 4 weeks and now it coming back after every 3 weeks.
My Son HB is low 7.7 and he is Thalesemia Intermedia Patient.
His Thal specialist doctor is telling its due to allergy and we are giving him Montair LC Kid Syrup (5 ML) daily. But still we see this happening and its making us very sad each time and effecting my son's health.
Please advice.
Multi triggered wheeze or viral associated wheeze
Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in HealthcareMagic. I understand your concern. First I want to alley your fears regarding your kid.
2 years is not an age to diagnose asthma. It could be either multi triggered wheeze or episodic viral wheeze.
Your specialist doctor was right. It seems to be an allergy of the airways as he is wheezing. Here many factors like dust, dust mites, smoke, seasonal changes, traffic, pollution, pollen, animal dander etc can cause cough and allergic wheezing.
Recurrent fever points out towards the diagnosis of viral associated wheeze and here viral illness could be the trigger for wheezing.
These usually might get better with age. But with the frequency your kid is getting these symptoms, I suggest you see your nearest paediatric pulmonologist and he will require metered dose inhalers and regular inhaled corticosteroids. Montair and LC combination is fine for now, but I suggest you get the consultation I suggested.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
