Brief Answer:
Is he physically active and does sports...weight lifting?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain that your son has experienced over the past 8months. To be of most help, it is necessary to characterise this pain and provide responses to above questions.

1. Is he into regular gym activities?
2. How bad is this pain?
3. Is he having any further symptoms?
4. Generally, for how long does this last?

I hope to hear back from you. However, it is unlikely that this pain is caused by an underlying disease condition. This would more likely be related to exercises and minor tears/strain within the muscles.

Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Until next, I wish your son well.

He has had surgery in his shoulder for a dislocate. Could this pain have anything to do with that. His surgery was 5 months ago. He did have this pain before he injured his shoulder.

He is an elite hockey player and yes he does exercise

Brief Answer:
This is certainly related to muscle strain....Understandably so!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

With is level of activity and professionalism, this is understandable. The nature and location is less likely to be related to the surgery. I will recommend pain medications only and will suggest further evaluation if the severity or frequency becomes an issue. At this time, pain medications such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen are okay.

I wish you well.
