What Causes Red Feet And Thick Vein Running Down Leg While Walking?

Question: Hello, when I am walking for any extended period of time, one large, thick vein runs down from my knee down to my ankle and it appears on the very front of my leg, just straight down. No pain, or discomfort, sometimes I do have swelling of my calves, and elevating them or sitting cross legged helps this. Also, my feet get red, and the veins on them protrude more than normal when this vein appears down my shins.

Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern.
I read your history and saw the photograph you sent, carefully.
Visually , there appears to be no pathological feature. Superficial veins can swell up especially in the beginning stages of varicose veins. It could also be a simple aberration or variation in the spectrum of normal.
If you are worried , you may get a Doppler Ultrasound of the lower limbs done to see for competence of the vessels, if the Doppler is normal then there is no need to worry.
Let me know if you have any query
wishing you best of health
Thanks
