Question: Hello:

I have had red puffy eyes since an upper respiratory type/viral infection which has now spread to redness on the top of my cheekbone in the morning ongoing for about 2 weeks.

Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
Get your blood tested.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I would insist you to refrain from cold temperatures. Drink plenty of water and take steam inhalation. Take some antiallergic like cetirizine once daily for next few days. Get your blood checked for routine counts. That will confirm if there is a bacterial infection and based on the reports suitable intervention may be given.

Please take an image of your eyes and upload it using the facility on the upper right of this page. That will enable me to suggest any intervention for your eyes.

I spend 8 to 12 hours a day doing medical transcription at a hospital. I have decided to have my family physician look at my eyes. Do aging eyes suffer from more eyestrain than younger people. Also, do aging eyes appear to be smaller because of bony changes around them. I use a lot eye creams also, but could there be allergic reactions to these.

Thanks for your help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for clarifying. Ageing can alter the amount of fat in the surrounding tissues, thus causing the eyes to look sunken, shallow, smaller or prominent. Ageing can also lead to wrinkles on the skin, thus altering the appearance but I doubt if creams would actually help and hence discourage their use.

Please take a photo and share it with me and I will guide you accordingly.
